Colombia Albeiro Ramirez Chiroso

This incredible coffee is our first offering of a lovely variety, Chiroso. Genetically linked to Ethiopian landrace varieties, it has a delicate citrus acidity that reminds us of some of our favorite coffees from Ethiopia. It's not a surprise why Chiroso is making more and more appearences in specialty coffee.

This chiroso from Albeiro Ramirez is the result of a lifelong experience in coffee. Albeiro has grown up in a farming family and 5 years ago, he bought his own farm in Urrao. This coffee represents his year to year experimentations to get a better cup. He usually picks his cherries in small batches from Monday through Wednesday and lets the cherries ferment for 48 hours until he has a bigger lot to depulp and wash. Once it's washed and ready to be dried, he puts it in raised drying beds to get a longer drying process, “it allows me to have better results with the cup because the beans have more time to develop more complex flavors” he says. After 2 to 3 weeks of drying, he gets a balanced cup that has now made it's way to our doorstep in Michigan. We are extremely grateful for the work that goes into this coffee by Albeiro and the team at Unblended Coffee.

A new packaging format for our coffee! We have been utilizing steel cans in custom blends for wholesale partners, and we are excited for the future of coffee cans. Unline traditional canisters that you might find at a grocery store, these have a one-way valve built into the top that allows for proper degassing so we can pack these immediately after roasting. Additionally, they are 100% curbside recyclable so you can throw these into your standard recycling. Or even better, re-use them around the house!
