With locations in Grand Rapids and Holland, our mission is to provide high-quality coffee & hospitable service, while empowering our team to grow and thrive together. We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Cafe Manager to lead our vibrant, community-focused cafe in Grand Rapids.
Position Overview:
As the Cafe Manager at Stovetop Roasters, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing a talented team of baristas, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional coffee experiences. The ideal candidate will have a passion for leadership, customer service, and high-quality coffee, with a drive to foster team development and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day cafe operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality service.

Manage product inventory and ensure timely ordering to maintain stock levels.

Handle payroll tracking, scheduling, and time-off management for the team.

Foster a positive, motivating work environment for cafe staff.

Maintain effective communication between roastery and cafe teams.

Update and manage menus, including food, drink, and coffee pricing sheets.

Ensure adherence to Stovetop Roasters’ best practices and quality standards, including training new staff and regularly maintaining equipment.

Maintain health code compliance and provide corrective action when necessary.

Monitor and guide barista performance, offering feedback and coaching.

Identify opportunities for team growth and operational improvements.
Desired Skills & Experience:

Required:
-
Proven experience in cafe management or leadership roles.

Extensive barista experience and a deep knowledge of coffee and brewing techniques.

Familiarity with Slack, Google Drive, and modern barista tools and equipment.

Knows their way around Google Docs and Google Sheets

Strong communication and organizational skills, with a focus on systems management.

Ability to assess and improve coffee quality, with a keen palate for coffee nuances.

A track record of identifying growth opportunities and implementing effective solutions.

ServSafe Manager certified. If you aren’t certified, you will need to be trained and certified immediately upon hire.

Preferred (not required):

Background in wholesale coffee roasting or similar industry experience.

Proficiency with Square POS systems.

Experience in social media management and merchandising.

Understanding of the West Michigan coffee culture and local community needs.

A strong desire to continue learning and perfecting the art of coffee in a business setting.
