The Job: Stovetop Roasters is Hiring! Located in the heart of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Stovetop Roasters is looking for a manager for our community-focused cafe space. We are seeking a manager to maintain our current growth pattern and propel our team of stellar baristas to new heights.
About You: We are looking for someone who values community and building a sustainable business within that. A fun-loving and hardworking individual who is driven to identify growth-inducing opportunities and see them through to fruition. We want someone who loves hearing others’ stories! Someone who wants to be a key role in a community staple and plug-in immediately.
Job Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day cafe operations
- Product inventory and order management
- Payroll tracking and management
- Setting a positive tone and environment for the cafe staff
- Employee scheduling
- Maintaining positive relationships with coworkers
- Maintaining an open flow of communication between roastery staff and cafe staff
- Updating menus when necessary (food menu, drink menu, coffee pricing sheet)
- Using Stovetop Best Practices and quality guidelines to establish and maintain cafe quality and staff training
- Observe/manage health code guidelines and employee actions, provide corrective action when needed
- Observe/manage on bar performance of baristas, provide corrective action when needed
- New staff training and standards implementation
Relevant Experience:
- Extensive barista experience a must
- An understanding of Slack and Google Drive
- Extensive knowledge of modern barista tools, practices, equipment, and trends
- Experience in teaching, effective communication, and systems management
- A track record of identifying growth opportunities and developing systems to pursue those avenues
- Professional time management
- Ability to taste and discern coffee quality and differences
Preferred Experience (not required)
- Several years of Cafe Management
- Work with a wholesale roasting company
- Square POS knowledge
- Social Media management
- Merchandising/sales experience
- An understanding of the West Michigan cafe culture and local customer needs
- A desire to continuously learn and perfect the craft of the Barista within a business setting
